Unit C5 - Washing Detergents

This is a unit on Applied Chemistry. We will discuss theoretical aspects of how a washing detergent works. Students will design their own experiments to compare the performance of different detergents. They will analyse their results and write up scientific reports. We will discuss factors that affect the cost of detergents and students may be required to work in a group to produce a commercial for a detergent with specific characteristics. Students will gain an appreciation of factors that need to be considered when purchasing a washing detergent.
